A great TV especially for just about everything especially for gaming
    5 out of 5 stars
A great TV especially for just about everything especially for gaming
I bought this TV USED - LIKE NEW and I do not regret it. I got the 75" for $1600. I'm sure it'll be cheaper closer to black friday but at the time it was on sale NEW for $2500. The box arrived in perfect condition. Everything fully packaged in OEM packaging. I couldn't find any defects in the box or on the TV. I hung it on the wall turned it on and it works great and has a beautiful picture.I closely compared this with the RU8000, Q60, and Q80. Price was a big factor for me and the performance was good enough across the board to choose the Q70 over cheaper options. I really wanted to the Q80 because of its better brightness and much better viewing angles but it was not even close to the same price bracket at the LIKE NEW Q70 I purchased.I do also own an LG C8 OLED as well so I'll compare these two.PICTURE:The Q70 has awesome colors, very good brightness, extremely strong contrast, black levels look almost perfect, but poor viewing angles. The LG C8 OLED perfect blacks, gets bright but not as bright as most QLEDs, very natural color, and perfect viewing angles. There's no doubt I prefer the picture on the OLED there is just something special and natural about perfect black. With that said I really like the QLED picture as well and in some circumstances the color and brightness do top the OLED, but if I could only have one I would go with the OLED here.GAMING:I bought the QLED instead of an OLED for gaming reasons. OLEDs are known to have burn-in issues and temporary image retention problems. My OLED absolutely has temporary image retention issues from time to time. It is a very heavily used TV by the whole family. The image retention always goes away but it happens regularly and freaks me out so I feel like I have to baby the TV a little.QLED does not have a burn-in risk. It also includes awesome gaming features like fast response time, very low input lag, Freesync, game enhance mode (contrast that really does make your game pop), and auto game detection (game mode turn itself on which is very handy).Gaming is the primary reason I chose the QLED as this TV has all our consoles hooked up to it.SMART INTERFACE:Both the LG and Samsung are fine. I don't really use either and use FireTV instead. I will say the LG stays out of my way better than Samsungs does if not using it is your primary goal like mine. If you do use it though Samsungs has a great selection of apps, they work well and run fast, and I haven't had any connection issues.DESIGN:The Samsung remote is great. It runs the fireTV, the Xbox One X, my LG soundbar, and the TV and I didn't do anything to set it up. It just works out of the box and I use it as the primary remote even when watching FireTV content most of the time. It's very cool. The TV itself is minimal and looks nice on the wall or on the stand. Ambient mode is a nice touch for parties but not a reason to buy this TV over another one. I prefer the LG C8 design in general. Extremely minimal, but it's really very close and subjective.DURABILITY:Seems solid and doesn't feel like its about to break. I actually really like this because the LG C8 feels like it's going to snap every time you touch it. I feel like I can handle this TV confidently without destroying it which is nice.OVERALL:This TV is a great choice if you can get a deal on it. I have no regrets. The picture is beautiful, the gaming options are incredible if gaming is something you'll be doin. The remote is handy. My only complaint is the viewing angles but its not bad and the smart interface won't entirely get out of the way (maybe there's a setting a missed though). Both are minor details which some other TVs do better, but since it shines in the gaming department its easy for me to look past. If you have a a very wide seating arrangement consider the Q80 or an OLED. If you have a very standard couch and love seat or sectional and a chair the Q70 will likely be perfect if its in your target budget. Once you get it on your wall and turn it on and I don't think anyone should be disappointed with this TVs performance.

I was a bit skeptical about someone's negative review that it had a soap opera effect when u watch movies. Because of Amazon's amazing return policy I said I will try the tv because the majority of reviews were good.

It's been about 45 days now and the tv is amazing. I have zero regrets. I haven't purchased a tv in over 10 years because I was always given a tv. After my plasma for the living room broke I started shopping for a replacement. I have samsung phone so decided to go with Samsung smart tv for the many benefits for synchronization and smart home etc...1st thing that happened when turning on tv and setting it up with the wifi, it found my phone and automatically configured. I was blown away like love at 1st site lol.

The sound for factory is pretty decent for bass but treble could be a bit louder, but I'm a bit hard of hearing anyways. Some programming I had the volume all way to 100 and my friends didnt think it was blasting. However, that was for a discussion type of show. When gaming or movies the volume doesnt usually go past 30 before it starts to sound like your in a theater so I cant complain with the volume in that regard.

The graphics are off the charts coming from a plasma and 1080p Toshiba non-smart 5yr old LCD. I was mesmerized at all the colors and detail when watching nature shows or gaming. Breathtaking! It took a few weeks for me to get used to the immense quality. I bought a PS4 when I bought this TV and they pair well with 4k resolution plus it changes to game mode to increase all settings for maximum gaming experience. Freaking insane with color and detail. I dont know much about blacks and I tried researching a little and havent really had an issue with dark programming. However, the tv has a setting for improvement depending on lighting in the room to minimize glare. I havent had a glare issue. There are a few settings. When watching a movie or tv show outside of movie mode then you do have a soap opera effect but all you have to do is put it in movie mode and it feels like your watching a movie or tv show instead of a reality tv show or soap opera lol. While in those modes you can also change specific color settings as well. There is also a dynamic range setting which is best for pretty much anything else which enhances 10 fold the viewing experience. Also, I had but returned the amazon 4k firestick and noticed better 4k resolution through the Netflix and prime app on the tv compared to playing the same exact show through the prime stick app.

The smart features are great. No issues between my phone. Tins of apps to download and preloaded with Netflix, prime, disney+ and hulu. however, they pretty much got all online stream services paid and free including Samsung's own channel. There is a built in web browser that let's you surf the web and play videos from within the browser which hasn't given me any problems so far.

The cables can be hidden when connect to the rear ports. 4 hmdi cable connections.

All in all I am so very happy with the 65" tv. Money well spent and no regrets.

First thing out of the way. I purchased my 55' Q70r as a open box while a 20% off Amazon warehouse sale was going on. So my total with tax was under $750, but the unit was very faint scratch in the center of the screen that is hard to see with the tv turned off. So since i saved so much how would i feel if I payed twice what I did?
Well after i returned an abysmal ru7100, i saw the q70r on a deal and grabbed it. I also have a 2016 ju7500 3d tv to compare it to. And as always you should correct the picture setting yourself. The standard are decent.
The Tv looks great and of high quality. The stand is screwless which i would strongly perfer screws. The back texture is a nice touch and it has a minimal design. The glossy finish to the screen feels quality but lets more glare than desired. Overall it looks great and the build quality is well worth the $1200+ over the ru7100s crooked labels and cheap material.
The picture is no surprise a step higher than my ju7500. The color gradient is lush, contrast is deep, and blacks are close to pitch. Where it is worse is picture options. My old ju7500 allowed for far more customization.
For gaming, sports, or movies this is an amazing tv. I returned the ru7100 for its unbelievable poor use of motion. So right here i will justify the 2.5x price difference. The q70r is one of the best and for the money the best tvs for motion clarity PERIOD. Go check RTINGS.com. my ju7500 in bsm is super clear but has some ghosting. This tv has almost NONE. The image above is while panning the camera fast on the q70r vs very slow panning on the ru7100 in rdr2 on xbox1x to see how the other half lives. Yes the 7100 is that bad, and yes the q70r is excellent.Action movies, sports, and gaming will look great.
Sports and gaming should push you into the led camp over oled due to burn in risk. But this tv is a gamers dream. Free sync is an option for xbox and pc, motion can be smoothed and clear with great input lag still intact. PC users are always welcomed with Samsung products as they natively support an array of resolutions.
The apps. My young kids use it with ease. It works quickly and for me flawlessly. The remote is alittle to minimal, but functions well.
Sound is good, but just good. Its not going to compete with a soundbar and base. But its fine.
Due I recommend the q70r for $1200. If you are a gamer YES! Also yes for a pc monitor. If you watch sports, nature shows on youtube or movies yes it will suit you well. If you watch just cable tv in hd then no. This is a great set that gives some bang for the buck. Moral of the story, take a shot at Amazon Warehouse buys. You could honestly save hundreds.
