Great airflow - yet quiet

- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2016Took me two days to transfer my parts over to this case. The case looks very sleek, plain, and attractive. Pictures do not do this case justice. It looks much better in person. The case is quite heavy with the panels on along with computer parts. Weighing at what feels like nearly 30 pounds. I'm an athlete with muscles, but 30 pounds is no joke when dealing with the way you'd have to carry this case. Taking off both panels shaves off around 5-7 pounds, making it much easier to grip and carry around with no concerns.
Fractal seems to have improved the rigidity of this case, which is the opposite of what I've heard from reviews leading up to purchase. That's a major positive, although there is still some flex when moving the case from corner to corner. Front to back movement reveals how solid the case has become.
Now installing parts was super easy, almost too easy! My previous case was a CM Storm Scout 1, had very limited space and absolutely no cable management at all. Speaking of cable management, it might have been easier for me if my cables' sleeves weren't so thick and rigid. But I was still able to work with my cables and ultimately, putting on the side panel was no problem at all. If you are working with thick factory cables, you may want to prepare an hour or two of free time. Otherwise, save yourself the trouble and get custom sleeved cables that are braided, to allow for extra flexibility and flattening. The back of the case has good cable routing, including four Velcro straps, one of which is located near the bottom far end corner.
Connecting hard drives will requite straight SATA connectors, as the right angle counterparts prove to be extremely impossible to work with. Not only that, the big routing holes next to the motherboard are angled. I had to spend an extra $5 for an extra straight SATA cable to connect my second HDD. So again, in short, just get braided cables, they are much easier to work with, and will provide you with improved aesthetics. Speaking of aesthetics, my cables are mostly black, with the power cables being rainbow colored, but everything else in the case looks good!
The box for this case comes with an accessory box, including reservoir brackets for those who are doing water cooling. Front and bottom dust filters, which is nice. Now I highly encourage you guys to have positive pressure for air flow, as there are holes in the bottom (for reservoirs/pumps) and PCI-E covers that dust can accumulate in. That is easily solved by having more intake fans than exhaust fans. Keep in mind that the front intake fans draw in air from the front panel vents. Lastly, the case sports a wide vent up at the top where the moduvents are. It has an offset design, which is cool. I left mine on, which helps with sound dampening.
Pros:
- Great cable routing options, although you will need braided cables for an easier time.
- Looks great with the big side window to show off your build
- Sound dampening works, but don't expect total silence.
- The case fans that come included look good, and are quiet. Both included fans are 140mm. I recommend adding an extra HF-14 Fractal Venturi fan or HP-14 (if using a radiator) for the extra intake.
- Lots of space to work with.
- Side panels have captive thumbscrews.
Cons:
- Heavy, has no handles, so taking off the side panels will make it much easier to carry around.
- PCI-E covers are white (this could be a pro), so stealthy black builds are compromised a little.
- Angled routing holes, a compromise of putting hard drive storage in the back. This renders right angled SATA connectors useless.
- Blue LED at the power button. This can kill the consistent color scheme of some builds. Non-deal breaker for me, I just wish we had the option to change the colors.
- Side panels are put on by a primitive "match-the-hole" method. The MasterCase is years ahead of this case for side panel attachment.
- Price. This used to be 70-80 dollars. I paid $111. Wut.
Unknown:
- Window quality. I have not scratched the window yet. I do not plan to. I've heard that the window is very easily scratched. Who knows, maybe they improved the window this time.
The cons did not knock off any stars. The PC case market has grown up quite a bit in terms of improving feature standards. I can definitely see it by looking at the Storm Scout 1 and this case.
Okay, review over. Thanks for killing brain cells to make an informed decision.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2016If you asked me until I attempted to use a standard 3.5mm headset on the front side audio jacks, I'd say this case was great. It has plenty of places tuck away and tidy up cables, and in some was it can be a dream come true for watercoolers and enthusiast. However, keep in mind that some units will come with defective front panels. Audio will come out the microphone jack, and inserting the microphone in the headphone jack will result in the microphone being detect, but will not work. It would have been amusing if the ports were simply reversed, but that's not the case. Other reviews of the case are spot on, and if you can overlook this possible flaw (not all units will have it), then it's still a great case.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2015This case is sweet, so insanely crazy sweet.
First Fractal, was thinking Cosair until I noticed this case was on sale and decided to take a chance, will not be the last Fractal for sure.
I built the computer in January with a Rosewill Challenger case with the idea that I would eventually upgrade the case. Well my Dad needed a new computer so to keep the price down on the build I donated my case and replaced it with this beauty.
First of all looks. It looks great and professional, it could keep it in my practice without people thinking twice about it. Beyond that it doesn't look like something designed for a 5 year old, its design is smart. Internally it is a case designed for the future it can hold 3 HDDs and 2 SDDs and if you need more than this, you don't.
Cold, so cold. Going from the three case fans I had in the rosewill to the two in this case on prime95 I had a 10 degree drop in core temps. Note: I am running the coolermaster EVO 212 with 2xNoctuas for reference. I know that drop in temps is crazy from changing cases but with the design of this case it really brings out the best of the cooler, one big fan up front and one big fan in the back giving the CPU cooler tons of cool air and removing its hot air. Really its not too surprising that this case maximizes the potential of the EVO 212.
Wire organization, hells yeah, wires are always a pain just imagine how sweet our builds would look if there were no wires. This case organizes wires spectacularly, every time I was fighting with a wire to get it where I wanted it to be it turned out that there was already a better premade route for that wire, the case made me feel like an idiot many times for not realizing that a much easier alternative was right in front of my eyes.
Extras, the case came very well packages with cute little bags for every type of screw it had and tie wraps and appreciation should be given for taking the time to organize all the extra junk in such a nice tidy manner, they didn't have to but they did!!
Noise level, non-existent I am a young guy and my ears work fine, honestly, the case is dead silent I cannot tell the difference between when I am running prime95 with fans at full power and the when computer is off! Dead FN silent

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing case
This case is wonderful. My only problem : the included fans push very little air (but also absolutely silent). For such a wide and spacey case, I find those are not suitable.
