Features

Edge to Edge Frameless Design

Designed for multi-monitor setups, the ASUS PB258Q features a frameless bezel design, ensuring a near-seamless transition from display to display. PB258Q's 2560 x 1440 panel gives you the benefits of greater image detail and up to 77% more onscreen desktop space than standard Full HD (1920 x 1080) displays. These minor details add up to give you a major in-life advantage

Latest Panel Technology

The PB258Q features a 16:9 aspect ratio LED-backlit AH-IPS panel with a 178° wide-view angle that minimizes color shift on both horizontal and vertical planes to ensure quality visuals from almost any direction. AH-IPS is the latest in IPS technology – delivering improved color accuracy plus increased energy efficiency.

Splendid Video Modes

Splendid Video Intelligence Technology enhances color, brightness, contrast, and sharpness to provide optimal viewing. 6 preset video modes (Scenery, Theater, Game, Night View, sRGB and Standard) can be selected via onboard monitor menu.

ASUS EyeCare Flicker-Free Technology

Flicker is caused by the rapid on/off cycle of the LED backlight as it tried to maintain the brightness of the display. It constantly bombards the eye with varying levels of brightness which causes fatigue and strain as your eye tries to adjust. Certified flicker-free by TUV Rheinland laboratories, the PB258Q removes onscreen flicker by using Smart Dynamic Backlight Adjustment.

ASUS EyeCare Low Blue Light Filter

Recent studies have found that blue light from monitors may cause eye damage, strains, headaches, and sleep disorders. ASUS Blue Light Filter protects your eyes from harmful blue light; a new OSD menu lets you easily access and select four different filter settings onscreen for the best balance for protection and entertainment.

VESA Mount

Fully ergonomic, tilt, swivel, pivot, and adjust height for the most comfortable viewing angles, perfect for long computing sessions.

ASUS Warranty

All ASUS Monitors come with a 3-Year warranty and ASUS Rapid Replacement service offering free 2-way cross-shipping that swaps any verified defective monitor with a replacement before you send it back.

Amazing Monitor ~ HORRIBLE Amazon shipping!
I went into this purchase of the PB258Q 25" 1440 monitor a little timid, as I have read tons of horror stories about IPS monitors. However I'm extremely please to say that my monitor came free of any defects. I'll break this review down simply and into a few parts,Horrible Amazon Shipping: Amazon's shipping was actually atrocious (photos included). They put my monitor box inside of a box almost twice its size with ZERO padding aside form a single crumpled piece of paper. Part of the reason is because it was supposed to be shipped with another item, in this case, cable ties. A very very small package. But, its so illogical, I can hardly believe a human packed this with any good intention as there was a good 12~14 inches inside the box on either side for it to bounce around from the guaranteed abuse it receives from mail services. Sunglasses on one of the photos for scale reference. The monitor box itself is extremely well packed and secured. Which is massive thumbs up for Asus, because I was actually expecting my monitor to be in pieces considering Amazon's appalling shipping. It came with all the cables that match the inputs, and setting it up was easy.Base & Stand: 5/5The monitor base and arm are very heavy and show significant strength in build quality. The height is easily adjustable.Screen Quality: 5/5Having used the monitor now for about a full week doing both work and gaming, I can honestly say this is one of the best monitors I've owned. Out of the box color calibration is decent, though not perfect. It should work fine for most casual people, but if you are a professional in the design fields you absolutely should invest in a monitor calibration tool such as the ColorMunki Display. The bezels are flush with the screen and quite small, which make this a fantastic monitor for multi monitor setups and the VESA mounting on the back is icing on the cake. I have no dead pixels. And there is actually no light bleed at all even in a pitch black room. HOWEVER, there is fairly significant IPS glow, which is to be expected from this technology, though this needs to be improved Asus. This could be a deal breaker for some, but depending on your use it could be just fine. I love that there are actual physical buttons on the monitor itself which make night time operation easier and more intuitive, as well trouble free, as the capacitive alternatives on other monitors don't seem to work well. The OSD menu is ok and should work for most people.Other thoughtsOn gaming the 60hz is noticeable and not something you'd want to downgrade to if you have 144hz panel. With that said however, there is no noticeable input lag, even in fast paced shooters such as Overwatch. Just turn Vsync/Triple buffering off and allow your frames to crank way up for the most responsive experience though you will experience tearing. On slower games such as Witcher 3, I'm running Vsync for smoothness, and its about as buttery smooth as a 60hz panel will ever feel with no ghosting or other strange artifacts like that. All in all I'm EXTREMELY pleased with the monitor and am definitely considering replacing my other monitors with this exact model to have maybe a 2~3 monitor setup with mounting.Product 5/5Amazon shipping: 0/5 Seriously amazon, get that checked out. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason so many monitors are getting returned is due to terrible packaging for shipping.

I bought two of these screens to upgrade my workstation. Excellent Color, Very Bright, No Apparent Defects. I'm impressed. The settings can be a little difficult to get dialed in because there are many options for color (which I appreciate), but once you have them setup everything is smooth sailing. I'll be using these for gaming, web development and design work. The perfect upgrade to my workstation.

      Stand:
Solid, weighty and Configurable, but they have large footprint. I'm going to get some arms to free up my desk space.

      Glossy or Matte?
It's deffo not glossy but there is some reflectivity. If your workspace only has only one light source (bedroom) this might be an issue at some angles.

      Bezel:
These are technically bezel-less but there is still a 1/4" black border around the screen. This doesn't bother me with my dual setup, but if this is an issue for you, you may want to investigate further.

      Connections:
I bought two DisplayPort to MiniDisplayPort cables to connect the screens. I would advice against HDMI connections if you want high resolution image quality.

      Audio:
Flat and one-dimensional sound. Don't bother hooking it up unless you just want to hear your computer's system sounds. Videos sound pretty bad, music would be worse, lol.

I own 2 of these and have to say they are the best monitors I have ever owned.

The monitors themselves are very light without the stand, so they should be compatible with many mounts. The image quality is the best I have seen on any IPS. The default calibration is very good compared to most monitors (although the default brightness is a bit too high).

This panel uses the same exact panel as the Dell uh2515h. The image quality is pretty much the exact same. The Dell has issues with capacitive buttons, whereas this ASUS uses physical buttons. There is a very light AG coating that does not blur image quality at all.

When choosing between this and the Dell equivalent, it is mostly just a matter of preference on looks. The Dell has issues with the capacitive buttons not responding, but has a slightly better stand. The ASUS stand is great, the Dell's rotating is just slightly better. The ASUS has entire base rotate on an axis whereas the Dell has a stationary base with a rotating post on top of the stand.

This monitor does have a low response time for an IPS and is suitable for most games. If you are a competitive CS:GO player, you will still want a fast TN panel, as the lag is noticeable in FPS.

The IPS glow on both monitors I received is barely noticeable. Both monitors have 0 dead pixels.

I feel the previous 3 star review the other individual placed on this monitor is completely unwarranted. The piece that he says broke is a tiny add-on bracket that comes packed with the cables. Also, I think a monitor should be judged for its image quality, not its speakers which are just an added bonus.

I will add pictures to this review once I receive my stand for the monitors.

Recently upgraded from a monitor I had used for several years, and the difference was night and day. Beautiful crisp and clear image, a lot of quick settings to change the lighting, brightness, contrast, etc. levels based on what you're doing (gaming, reading, watching a movie, reading in the dark). Outstanding monitor for gaming. The stand is great and offers a lot of flexibility on where you want your monitor situated. If you have a crick in your neck and you're head is stuck leaning to the right at a 45° angle, then this monitor has you covered. It has HDMI port which my old monitor did not have which has been a game-changer, assuming your video card has an HDMI port, which I would think most modern ones do. All that said, I've experienced some minor issues with the monitor pretty much straight out of the box. They're trifles, but annoying nonetheless. The first issue is that, somewhere within an hour of being powered on, the monitor will randomly turn off, and then power back up after a second or two (this can be quite frustrating if you're in the middle of a game). The second issue is that sometimes the monitor won't read as connected, and upon turning it on, you'll get this notification that reads "DisplayPort NO SIGNAL". Which means it won't turn on despite being firmly connected to the power and to your computer. The solution most of the time is to unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and wait until the orange light goes off, and then plug it back in. Other times, that doesn't work, and I've had to wait while the monitor struggles to try and connect (usually after about 10 seconds). So you could see how this would get a little irritating. It doesn't happen always, but enough to prevent me from giving this thing 5 stars.

I have now had this monitor for a bit over two years and it is one of the best I have worked with. It is very spartan in its features (aside from a solid selection of video inputs). it has mediocre speakers not worth using and a clunky set of programmable features all of which are better handled with software on whatever computer is driving it. ALL OF THIS IS WHY I CHOSE IT. electronics are a zero sum game, every feature and every doodad adds manufacturing cost. but the VAST majority of the manufacturing costs of this Display, went into two things.
      • Built quality: it is rock solid yet lightweight, the actual screen that is, the base achieves a very small footprint by being heavy AF and is built of steel, not plastic.
      • Image quality: the quality, brightness and color accuracy on this thing are all super impressive. And while the 75hz and 5ms response time aren't going to give you an edge in gaming they will keep your eyes happy and you headache free when you need to put in long hours in front of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great 2K monitor. At 25", 2K is a minimum resolution you should look at.
Reviewed in Canada on September 26, 2019
No dead pixels. Lots of controls wrt colour and brightness, etc. Several inputs that I use to switch between computers. All good. Sometimes needs to be unplugged and plugged in for my work laptop to recognize it. I think there's an issue between my laptop and the displayport adapter and or displayport to monitor. Likely the USB -> DVI switchover but maybe the monitor firmware. Either way, not important enough to drop a star, it happens very infrequently.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente Imagen
Reviewed in Mexico on January 28, 2017

Reviewed in Mexico on November 1, 2016

4.0 out of 5 stars Truly a professional monitor which means forget about the audio
Reviewed in Canada on December 5, 2019
Perfect design. Perfect size. Perfect video quality. Terrible audio quality. I mean I get it. This is a professional monitor which means people buy it for its video quality but that does not mean that its audio should be so bad. If they had totally removed the audio from this product, they would have actually improved it. Its audio absolutely sounds ridiculous, a $5 speaker sounds better than this (without any exaggeration). But again, its video quality is unparalleled especially considering the fact that its screen is matte.
