- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2010I have a 17" Apple Macbook Pro (5.2) unibody from early 2009 with 8GB of memory. It originally came with a 5400rpm 320GB drive which I upgraded to a 7200rpm 512GB drive. The performance was pretty good overall but the system always felt a bit laggy. I use the system for work every day so good performance is more of a need than a want. I've been interested in SSDs for a while but they were too small for my needs. I had done some research and read several reviews of SSDs that had varying problems on the Mac. During my research I saw that the Kingston SNVP325S2512GB 512GB SSD worked the first time for all the reviews I read; so I ordered it.
I chose this model because it came with some additional parts like a USB cable, enclosure for the drive as well some additional goodies. Right now my old 7200rpm drive is in the enclosure and is being used to backup the SSD drive and, hey, who can't use an extra SATA cable ? :-P
The installation was simple and flawless. The only observation was that the fit was a tad tighter than the previous drive but it seated pretty easily and I didn't need to force anything.
After the system was restored to the SSD my first experience was bootup. In a word, WOW. Login was very fast and almost every application starts with very little lag compared to the spinning disk drive. My system is extremely responsive and for all the apps I use (Office, iWork, Eclipse and the Omni products among others) are all snappy and wake up from sleep is fantastic. I also use Fusion to run Windows for certain apps and the responsiveness of the VMs is so good its almost better than Windows on a native machine.
Its a good chunk of dough for a new drive, but, if you use your machine everyday it gives you back all the time you used to waste waiting for the old drive, and that, is priceless.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 12, 2010I have tested this using Sandra, HD Pro, and Crystal Mark. On Sandra and Crystal Mark, the Max is 181 MBs. On HD Pro 4.1 it is 155 MBs, with average of 148. This is NO WHERE NEAR the advertised V+ spec. The V series, that I have, always was 180-200 Mb/s.
The write of the V+ is faster than V -- 100 vs. about 50 that I was getting.
The Win 7 when from 6.7 for V to 6.9-7 for V+. Marginal at best.
I suggest the V+ if you get it at the same price. It is not worth more money.
I think the new Corsair for $40 more may be worth the investment.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2011Well, suffice to say that I had a disc of 7500, that the difference is great, if you want to make that change is definitely worth it, times of access to programs and games can improve a lot and write times are very good.
What if a recommendation, to buy two of these units whenever possible so that the backups have the same features as the boot disk.
Greetings
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2010I've been using this Kingston SSD now for about a month, and I must say it is worth every penny. My computer is much more responsive and faster, and as a result more enjoyable to use. Anybody who is borderline on whether or not they should get it, I believe should get it if they have the money to burn. You have to experience the difference to really appreciate it. My windows experience score also changed from my HDD being the bottleneck in my laptop, to my video card (which is a gtx 280M -- no slouch). The bundled Acronis software is very easy to use and feature rich as well. I was able to copy over a dual windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, and fedora 13 64 bit setup with no problem. I was also able to change the size of partitions as I saw fit. Needless to say, this product rocks!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2011A great drive at a great price. Switching drives was painless. Performance increase isn't noticeable in all operations, but it for search, startup \ shutdown, or opening large files (graphics, visio, etc) - definitely worth it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2010I got Kingston SSDNow V+Series 128 GB because I wanted a reliable storage unite, since I move a lot. So far, the unit is amazing, but I expected to be faster.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2010There are a couple devices out there that are rated as faster but I chose the Kingston for price and ease of setup. I am very happy with the decision - it was a dream to setup and met my performance expectations. I highly recommend it. I am amazed how much snappier my system is now. System and program startup is amazingly fast. Everyone should have a SSD system disk - with it you'll have tons of spare time!
One special note - everything is in the box to mount this device in a 3.5" PC cabinet, so no need to buy extra mounting hardware.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2012I bought this to throw in my Intel i7 laptop with 12 GB RAM and it cold boots in less than 7 seconds!!!
Kingston is an OK brand, but for what I use the SSD for it is plenty of room and PLENTY fast.
PS: I recommend not getting smaller than 32 GB with Windows 7

1.0 out of 5 stars a disaster
After two weeks it failed badly. I managed to recover some of the data and order a different disk, but then I discover that amazon return window had expired. Now I have this brick I would not use for any of my machines. a waste of money, don't buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Der Beschleuniger

Also Platte 5 Sterne
