- Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2007Ive used this now for about a week, on 4 different computers, all using XP and have had no problems what-so-ever. The reason I bought this was that my ipod broke after 13 months (the average lifespan I found out, never will buy one of those again, but thats a different review) and I wanted something to transport music to my computer at work easily. 2gb of space is pleanty of mp3's to take to work for a day and I can go home and easily swap songs in and out.
Data transfer speed is fast, I put 1gb of mp3's on as a group, and it took <1min. It seems to be pretty durable so far. Far better plastic than the PNY I used to have (before it cracked). My only grip on the design is that I like the cap to fit easily over the back when its plugged into a usb slot, if you like to do that, I would recommend you put the cap on the back before plugging it into the slot as it can make the drive move around if it is already in the slot.
The xbox 360 recognizies it, and it also matches the 360.
Only slight problem I have found, which really means nothing, is that if you plug it into a usb hub, it will read it as a generic usb drive as opposed to a datatravler if you plug it directly into the computers usb drive. Again no biggie, it dosent affect performance or anything. I guess I found one more, on some XP machines, you will get that annoying window that pops up saying "This device will work faster if you plug it into a usb 2.0 slot." Well all of my computers only have usb 2.0, so I tihnk its an XP issue since it only occurs on a on of them. Again, does not affect performance at all.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2008It's a flash drive, much like all the others, so here are the few things that might distinguish it from the others:
- Good price. This is [edit: well, was, when I bought it] about as cheap as you can find a 2GB flash drive at the moment.
- Good speed. Mine gets 16MB/s read and 6MB/s write, which is well above what I expected, as the drive isn't marketed for its speed. I assume they change it over time to improve it (the model itself is ancient at this point, but mine has a December '07 manufacture date printed on the side).
- Good design. The cap can fit snugly on the back when it's plugged in, the activity light is *not* annoyingly bright, there is a spot for a small included lanyard (look inside the packaging! I almost missed the lanyard) to attach it to a keychain or similar, and overall it's an attractive design.
It's not as fast as others, certainly, but it also doesn't cost as much as those.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2007Great little memory stick, very handy for transferring files, sharing pics & music, having emergency back-up on critical files (during hurricane season!). Worked instantly right out of the box on PC, running XP sp2. Was a little twitchy when plugged into an older machine with USB 1.1 (running XP sp1): worked okay, then was not recognized, but problem resolved on unplugging and replugging. No such issues with newer machines.
Chose this unit over the Data Traveller II due to lower cost and the little plastic loop for attaching to a keychain or lanyard (this is supplied with the tiniest lanyard I have ever seen). I found this unit's speed more than adequate: it wrote 1.2 GB of data via USB 1.1 in less than 15 minutes, would have been 5 on USB 2.0. Then it copied (read) the data via a USB 2.0 port onto another machine in about 1.25 minutes. If you need more speed than that- try the decaf. Or get the Traveller II and save yourself 1-2 minutes.
I did not give this five stars because the cap quickly felt loose, although it was not falling off. It's just a plastic snap-on (the whole thing is lightweight plastic), and the cap will fit onto the back end when the drive is in use. I'm thinking this is why the cap is loose on mine- I bought two and the second one's cap is NOT lose, possibly because it has not been stuck on the back end of the unit. It's cheap plastic, but waddya want for 20 bucks?
This is a handy capacity (2 GB) and the price point is excellent. However these WILL get cheaper; they will probably be $10 by the end of the year. But don't wait to save $10 if you need it now.
** UPDATE 7/12/08-- After almost 18 months of use, this product still performs perfectly, and the cap has only fallen off once. So I am changing my rating to FIVE STARS. I have also bought several more in 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB capacity, and they all work flawlessly. Prices continue to fall as well. make sure you get the Kingston DataTraveler I (DTI), not the "II" version. Simple, effective, useful!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2007I bought this DTI-2gb model for Toshiba(vista OS) laptop and it worked fine to boost the ram expansion using ReadyBoost feature from Windows Vista.
So, I bought another one. This time, I ordered Kingston DTI-4gb for my other HP(Vista OS)and it did not work as ReadyBoost at all. Then I went to Kingston website only to find out that DTI models DO NOT support ReadyBoost, still misleading us with "compatible with Vista" print on the package. The writing speed was not as good as Memorex 4gb I already have and cheap flimsy soft plastic shell that doesn't match any of the laptop designs.
If you are using it for general storage use, the other brands' products have dropped their prices to match Kingston's. Hence, it is no more bargain as the previous reviewers have mentioned.
I am returning mine and will wait for Sandisk SDCZ6-4096-AC11 to come on amazon.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars total zufrieden
5 Sterne

5.0 out of 5 stars Une très bonne clef

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellente clé!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great solid USB
I bought mine direct from Amazon a wee while back so have had none of the P&P problems other people are reporting.
As a product it's great. Never had any problem, fast and reliable transfer. Automatic recognition to every computer i've ever connected it too and a great 2GB space.
If you can afford it buy the newer 4GB version - I'm a firm believe in getting the biggest and best you can with electronic goods to reduce their rate of that they become obselete.
