Product Description

Product Description

Silent CPU cooler with maximized dissipation area with pure copper for enhanced performance.

Amazon.com

Zalman's CNPS7700-Cu cooler for Intel/AMD Motherboards and CPUs offers a large, high-efficiency fan and pure-copper base material to ensure excellent heat dissipation. It also works with a range of prominent CPUs and motherboards, including Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 775), Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 478), and AMD64 (Socket 754/939/940). When it's set to silent mode, the cooler generates no noise or vibrations.

The large, 120 mm fan inside the cooler's FHS maximizes cooling performance by providing sufficient airflow over a large area, cooling not only the CPU, but the VGA card, Northbridge, FET, and RAM--even at slow rotation speeds. The supplied adjustable fan speed controller (Fan Mate 2) lets you control fan noise as well as performance.

The maximum weight for a cooler (fan) is specified as 450g (.99 pounds) for Intel Socket 775/478 and AMD Socket 754/939/940. Special care should be taken when moving a computer equipped with a cooler that exceeds the relevant weight limit (the CNPS7700 weighs 918g). Zalman Tech is not responsible for any damage that occurs when moving a computer.

What's in the Box
Fan, heat sink assembly, 4 grips (2 each for S-type and L-type), 4 bolts, thermal grease, fan speed controller (Fan Mate 2), double-sided tape (for installing Fan Mate 2), cable for Fan Mate 2, a user's manual (in English and Korean), 1 clip support for Socket 775, 1 backplate for Socket 775, 4 clip-support fixing bolts, 2 clip supports for Socket 478, 2 nipples, 1 backplate for AMD64, and 1 set of washers.

Note: No motherboard components with a height greater than 39mm (1.53-inch), as well as the PSU, disk drives, VGA card, and RAM should be present within a 68mm (2.68 inch) radius from the center of the CPU.

108 degrees F with a P4 3.0ghz cpu
BIG COOLER, BIG FAN, BIG TEMP DROP. On a P4 cpu this cooler clips right on mobo plastic bracket. It's no harder to install than the factory cooler. My factory cooler with a P4 2.4ghz cpu steaming video ran at 122 degrees..A used P4 3.0ghz with this Zalman 7700 runs at 108 degress F steaming video and 85/90% cpu usage. Easy install..Lots of brackets for other processors..You can order a spare fan and bracket from zalmanusainc. for 7 bucks delivered to your door. But you'll never get it. I know I paid twice, once wrong fan and once nothing.

I purchased this fan to go with my Pentium D 830 on Intel's D955XBK motherboard. I used as many "silent" components as possible, including the Antec Phantom 500 and Lian Li's PC6070 Plus silent case. All great if you aren't on a budget.

In any case the Zalman cooler may be the best purchase of all. It was easy to install, though it is very large and may not fit on all motherboards/cases. It came with some decent thermal grease too, rather than one of those cheap little squares that even good fans sometimes come with.

When I first installed it I also connected the little speed controller, but the fan was so silent that I realized that I would never manually take it off of the highest speed and ended up disconnecting it. The motherboard has its own automatic controller anyway, but even if it didn't I would just let the fan run on high all of the time.

Shortly after installing I noticed that when the CPU ran at full load the system overheated. Once I was satisfied that the case and PSU fans were functioning fine and weren't the culprit I removed the Zalman and replaced it with the Intel fan that came with the chip. Not only did it sound like a 747 but it actually did a poorer job of cooling the system than the Zalman, with temperatures averaging 4 or 5 degrees higher under full load.

So in short the Zalman does a better job of cooling than the stock Intel fan and at a much lower volume. I've come to realize that short of water cooling there really isn't a whole lot you can do with a Pentium D, they just run so hot. I'm considering using Zalman's silent water cooling in the near future, but for those people who don't want to go that route or for people with single core processors I highly recommend the Zalman CNPS770-Cu.

THE FAN LOOKS VERY GOOD, I THINK THIS IS 5 STARS, LOOKS VERY GOOD QUALITY, BUT I PUT THE 4 STARS BECAUSE THE SELLER SENT ME OTHER FAN FOR INTEL SOCKET 775, 478 AND AMD 754, 939, 940 WHEN THEY OFFER THE INTEL SOCKET 1155, 1156, 775, THE AMD WAS RIGHT BUT I HAVE INTEL AND THEY SEND OTHER.

I TRIED TO ASK FOR REPLACE BUT THE TIME LIMIT FOR ASK REPLACE HAS EXPIRED ONE DAY BEFORE I OBTAINED THIS, THE SHIP WAS FAST BUT I WAS IN ANOTHER CITY.

THE ITEM IS IN GREAT CONDITION, I BELIEVE ZALMAN IS REALLY VERY GOOD AND I CAN RECOMMEND YOU TO BUY THIS BUT BETTER BUY IN EBAY WHERE YOU CAN ASK THE SELLER TO CONFIRM THE RIGHT ITEM.

    I know, you're thinkin' $45 for a CPU COOLER???

Yes, buy it, buy it NOW! I say this for two reasons:

    1. Inside your case this thing just looks incredible

    2. This cooler is super quiet and keeps the cpu very cool

I have a Pentium 4 650 3.4Ghz processor and it hovers around 45 degrees celcius when fully loaded. That is pretty awesome if you ask me.

I found Zalman's website very helpful in making sure that this cooler was compatible with my motherboard and in terms of installation.

The only negative some people may point to is the overall size. This can only be a negative if because of the size it won't fit in your case or on your motherboard. Therefore you wouldn't be able to use it and that would suck, hence negative. However, most people that are interested in this cooler already have an appropriate motherboard and case, and if not there is a list of dozens to choose from.

    It's very quiet

    It's very cool looking

    It keeps things cool

Is there anything else to say?

My sons computer was so loud that we referred to it as the leaf blower. We assumed that his fan had gone bad (bearing) but found on line that an extremely loud fan was a feature of his Dell dimension 8400. We also found a web site from someone in England that had replaced his Dell cooling tower with the Zalman and had fabulous results. He detailed how to modify the brackets and we had to buy a power cable converter.

The results have been astrounding. The Zalman keeps the CPU so cool that the stock Delta fan never goes above its lowest speed and therefore is very quiet. And the Zalman makes almost no noise.

We are quite happy with the result.

This product does what it says on its description. But It's hard to install in my computer. My machine is Insignia D300a,which has Pentium 4(socket 478). Therefore I have to follow Socket 478 procedure. I have put 2 little bridge thing in above of my CPU and drived screws on it. I used long screws. I had to use short screws but I read the document. But short screws were looked to short to me. I though It would not reach thoes 2 bridges. Because I have used 2 long screws, Screws reached to surface of motherboard and cut few lines in circuit. I need a motherboard(Socket 478) now for my desktop. After then, I installed this cpu fan in my other computer in kichine. And it's queit and good. But it's too hard to install for me. Maybe it's easy for people who open compueter box often and if the box is large enough for this cooler
