This machine has everything I wanted...it does a great job picking up stuff, is easy to clean and the retractable cord is nice. The problem is that it burns out after vacuuming one room. Regardless of the setting (high or low carpet), I vacuum a room and it dies. Then an hour later I can plug it in and do another but then it dies again. I am not sure why it overheats and stops as it is extremely frustrating. I guess you get what you pay for. Next time I will go for quality and pay whatever the price is to get it.

I've had it one year and I hate it with a passion. Dies all the time. Doesn't suck up with the hose. HUNK OF JUNK.

Great suction, easy enough to push, filters are simple to clean, love the lift-off feature, but I just couldnt get beyond the traces of lead in the power cord. I'm sure it contains small traces, but hey, even small traces of lead is too much lead.

Overall this is an excellent vacuum and a big upgrade over my old Dirt Devil. My wife and I needed a vacuum that was ideal for hardwood floors and was a champ at sucking up long dog hair (Great Pyrenese). The Bissell Lift-Off works well in this regard. We almost always use the vacuum with the canister detached which is a very convenient way to clean my hardwood floors. The canister also makes it easier to take the vacuum outside to vacuum our vehicles. The only downside to using the canister is that the attachments are on the base unit so you just have to carry them with you as you move from room to room or wheel the base unit around with you as you work.

The construction feels very solid and all the switches and levers are of high quality. The dust collection cup is easy to empty and the foam air filters are also easy to access and clean. I usually have to empty the cup twice each time I vacuum the house and wash the air filter about every other time. The cord is long enough for me to reach almost all of my 1800 square foot house from a single outlet.

The only negative aspect of this vacuum is that the telescoping wand attachment is too short at 28 inches. At just under 6 ft tall I have to bend over to use the bare floor attachment. Also, dog hair gets wrapped around inside the Turbo Brush and the only way to clear it is to take it apart which requires you to remove some screws. The Turbo Brush is not the wonder tool I hoped it would be for removing dog hair from upholstery, but my wife likes it (she doesn't have to take it apart -- that's my job apparently).

The best thing I can say about the Bissell is that it is easier to use and cleans better than our old vacuum and it makes vacuuming seem like less of a chore. Therefore we use it more often and therefore have a cleaner house. In the end, that's what counts, right?

I've used this vacuum now for several years, and find it the best vacuum I've ever used. I haven't tried the ultra-high priced Dysons, but this does everything I've asked it to do. The multiple filters are fairly easy to use or change, and the clear plastic canister is super easy to empty out. The adjustability to different floors is excellent, and the hose storage for hand use is also good. Very well made, and although I now have a whole house vacuum system, I still use this one for my Oriental rug and even the back deck.

I bought this mainly because of the Bissell name and also because it I wanted something to clean areas that an upright would not go comfortably. I cannot tell you how much I dislike this thing. It is difficult to use, take apart, empty and clean.

It needs to have the filter cleaned all the time which means you must take it out and clean it. What is the point of having a vac with a hepa filter and bagless if you have to take everything out and clean the crude off of them all the time.

I constantly had to clean the filter because of the way it is made. Dirt just gets pulled right up into the thing until it clogs it (which does not take long) then you must take apart and pull all the junk off the filter. It goes down hill from here. I do not know what Bissell was thinking but I think they should have put more effort into working out the flaws. Maybe they could have let real people use it first. Anyway if you do not mind cleaning the vacuum cleaner inside and out two or three times a week buy this one but then you would still not have a very powerful vacuum cleaner. In otherwords don't buy this.

Great suction, handle bends low so you can maneuver under the sofa, works well on my tile and wood floors, too. The attachments are snugly attached, and don't fall off, and the extension arm is long enough that I don't have to bend over when using it along the edges of the floor (I'm 5'2"). The only negatives are that the dirt holder is quite small and that it's a bit heavy. Not prohibitively heavy, but you have to use some effort to push it. It's quiet, the cord is very long, and we have extreme dog hair (and some long people hair) that it handles very well. You just have to empty the container often.
