This pan was a bargain that turned out to be overpriced. I have a number of Farberware pans that have served me well, but this one came out of the box warped. The first time I put it on the range top it was rocking like crazy, with only one strip through the center that made contact. I could return it, but for $10 it is not worth the argument with Amazon about restocking fees. So after one use it is now washed and packed up in the GoodWill box. I would never use it again.
I am not going to totally put this pan down, but I am just not too impressed by it. It is a cheap pan, and it cooks like a cheap pan - the lid fits a pan I have that had no lid, so I am happy about that - but as for the actual pan, it is thin, and the coating is thin, and stuff sticks to it, and it is not as easy to clean as most of my non stick pans - will I use it, sure I will, will I let my kids and husband, heck no, it's going to need to be babied for that coating to stay intact. It is a large pan, and that is it's best feature.
I was thrilled to get this quality piece for only $12. My goodness! What a deal! It is huge, easy to clean, and I will use this OFTEN. I have a husband and 3 little boys to feed and this skillet is already making my life easier. The sides are straight and they are deep (but not as deep as my dutch oven), so it is great for cooking meat with sauces--you can turn your meat over without splashing the broth or sauce out of the sides. Love, love, love it!
I thought this non-stick/flat-bottom frypan was just right for one pot and stirfry meals. Well, it's a waste of money, thankfully I only paid $16. The first time I used this frypan, its flat-bottom bulged downward, only a tiny spot in the middle of the bottom is touching the smooth cook top. it wobbled so bad, I retired it to the basement after the first use. It would be a good choice if you have a gas stove.
This item is pretty lightweight and thin gauged but it serves my purpose at a price range I am currently comfortable at. The high sides allow for frying without making too much splatters so even if I cook just for 2 or 3, it's what I now reach for when I need a pan. Though I must say that I have my eyes on the heavier kind once budget allows.
I can see why some might not think this is not a highly durable pan. I suppose if you were to hit someone with it it might bend, but there must be other pans in their kitchen that will do a better job of that. The nice thing about this pan is first the lid, as the seam stays in the pan and does not seep out; second is that the bottom is almost 90 degrees and this makes it nice for cooking different foods, adding stuff in, and cooking it all together. I have had several other pans like this one, but for the price there is no comparison. You simply cannot not enjoy using this pan. And if it begins to wear in a few years, toss it or give it as a donation to a thrift store and get another one. This is really great pan that makes cooking so much easier and more enjoyable.
