      WARNING!!!!!
I admit, this WAS a great MP3 player. It lasted many hours on one AA battery, received FM stations well, was able to record from the radio...
3 months ago, I purchased this MP3 payer at the same time a co-worker of mine did, he talked me into it. His IRIVER IFP-180T quit powering on (died) within ONE WEEK!! He took it back to BestBuy and exchanged it for a new one. We laughed and thought he got a "lemon". Then two day ago (almost three monts old), mine died and quit powering on, just like his did.
SO.... I would recommend not buying one of these since they do not seem very reliable.

This player will not handle encypted WMAs that are found on Music match pay service. Company promises fix in 2 weeks. We"ll see.
1/1/2004 Still no support for encrypted WMA files for Musicmatch and other pay per download services,

Now I read that this was to avoid bootlegging (though I don't get this logic, if it was on your computer in the first place....). However, the iriver software cannot make MP3s from your CDs! So how is one to get MP3s for this unit? Bootleg stuff! I use another software package to rip MP3s from my CDs and than use the iriver software to put it to the player. I can't say enough bad stuff about the software. However, the unit itself is great. If you have a plan as far as software is concerned, go for it.

Just received this. This little thing has a lot of features. FM radio with 20 presets, equalizer, the playlists, record from voice and of course accordingly the manual is very long. I read only a few pages of it just to figure out the basics. I concur with other reviewers, the battery lid is flimsy. The sound with the given headphones are good but you will probably want to use other ones for comfort reasons. Too few buttons and too many features really. I'm sure once I get used to it, it will be fine but it will probably take a while. Expensive accessories seem only available on the iriver website (armband custom fit to hold the player is pricey on their site).
      Pros:
      Small
      lightweight
      Feature packed
      Cons:
Too few buttons with those great features
      flimsy feel to player

This has to be the best compact mp3/wma/wav/FM tuner and voice recorder ever made. The software that comes with the unit was very easy to install. XP users will see the "Not Microsoft Certified" driver window but once you get beyond that the ease of use is amazing. In under 5 minutes I had this puppy loaded up with songs (2 hours is about right at 128) and was running on the treadmill.
The unit is so light you can't feel it bounce around your neck if you tuck in under your shirt. The audio quality was fantastic with the provided earbuds.
It is a must have for any one looking for a compact, sleek mp3 player. However, don't skimp like I did on the memory size! Get the largest model you can afford. I've had this less than 4 hours at the time of writing this and I already want a much bigger one!

I assume this product works fine for mp3 playback as the other reviewers seem to indicate. However, I bought this specifically to record my sessions (I am a therapist) and it did an absolutely terrible job. You could only hear tiny distortions and this would be from approximately 3-4 feet away. So if you are looking for something to do voice recording I recommend the RipFlash Plus. It does an excellent job at voice recording although it also has a few challenges. Please see my review there.

This player overall is OK. I was not satisfied when i had received this player about how flimsy the battery case was, I'm rough with electronics and this broke right off in the first week. Also as you see in other reveiws as well as mine, this player does not work after about 6 months it shuts off. You can not add more memory if you feel like 128MB is not a lot. I would have prefered for a better price as well. 120 dollars is WAY to expensive for a player. I guess I have had this player for almost 3 months and its trashed and dead. I don't think it was the rough beating that led to the dying. The player itself was a little rough to begin with. I haven't dropped it once, but it just died in the snap of a finger. Also, the software is crap. This is definetly not a player to last, and you will find out yourself it will not last. The price is to spendy and iRiver just lost a customer. I will never buy from them again because of this product. Save up for an IPOD or I hear the RIO Cali is alright.
      Hope this helped,

      ...BR>Amazing price.
I love this mp3 player. It has all the features
and they actually all work very well. FM radio
sounds cool and you can record this and it is
in MP3 format. And voice recorder is also excellent
which I don't use much, but might come handy.
The size is kind of big compared to others, but
taking into account of all the features and controls
this things has I don't mind. First I didn't like
the triangluar shape, but it actually is nice since
I can lay it on my desk and still see the displays.
And best of all it sounds great! I couldn't believe it. I will
defintely recommend this one. I bought 128MEG which still
holds like 30 songs, but I should have gotten 256MEG.
In my opinion, this is one of the best MP3 player.
      Enjoy!
